FAQs

Do You Only Offer Faith-Based Therapy?

If you feel a connection with me but would prefer not to address faith during therapy, I am also trained in providing therapy that is not faith-based.

What If Have a Faith Other Than Christianity?

I work with people of all faiths. The common thread of a belief in a higher power ties us together. I will not push my beliefs on you, or try to convert you.

How Often Do I Need to Come?

I recommend weekly sessions at first, so we can build a firm foundation for our relationship. The quality of our relationship is one of the most important aspects of your progress. Your progress will be faster meeting weekly than less often. We can re-assess as we go to determine when you’re ready for less frequent sessions.

How Long Will I Need to be in Therapy?

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to determine exactly how long you will need to be in therapy. The length of time varies from several months to several years, depending on the issues you want to address, and how deep you want to go. My goal is for you to feel better in the least amount of time possible, and for you to feel therapy is valuable and beneficial in all stages of the process. I welcome discussions of how you feel about being in therapy, your progress, and our relationship. I have seen these discussions are fruitful and healing.

What’s the Difference Between Talking to You or My Friends or Family?

One of the biggest differences is that in therapy, you don’t have to worry about burdening your friends or family. Another difference is that I will offer you an objective, un-biased perspective, as I am not involved in other areas of your life outside therapy. Also we have a confidential relationship, meaning what is said stays between us, outside of a few specific legally-mandated reportable situations.

Do You Offer Couples Therapy?

Yes. So many partners end up disconnected, and longing to find the bond they once had. I can help you get un-stuck from negative patterns, and be able to express your needs, desires, and fears so that you feel fully held and heard by your partner. Sometimes individual therapy for both partners can be helpful in paving the way for couples therapy.

Do You Offer Therapy for Teens?

Yes. I have a substantial amount of training in, and a heart for, working with teens. Over my 12 years of being a therapist, I have helped many teens overcome trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and relationship issues, and then move into a future in which they feel ready to embrace their adulthood and pursue their dreams.
